Broadband Expansion & Outreach

Broadband infrastructure and services was a high priority project for Mercer County. In the winter of 2021, led by the County Board Economic Development Committee, a team of community organizations, volunteers and experts participated in the Accelerate Illinois Program to begin the creation of a strategic plan for implementing broadband expansion. The Alliance led the efforts in collaboration with local Internet Service Providers to apply for Connect Illinois funding for broadband expansion.

Broadband Expansion is still a County Board led project facilitated by the Prosperity Consulting Alliance; both are working together to continuously expand broadband services in Mercer County, including digital outreach and literacy programs.
